உண்மையில் நாம் வாழும் காலம் இறுதி காலமா ? பாகம் 09
இந்த தொடரில் ஓரின சேர்க்கை பாவமும் அதில் உள்ள இரகசியம் என்ன? என்பதை விரிவாக எனக்கு தெரிந்த வகையில் ஆராய்கிறேன் . இந்த இரகிசியத்தை அறிந்துகொள்ள படைப்பின் தொடக்கத்தில் இருந்து தொடங்குவது சால சிறந்தது
ஆதியாகமம் 2 அதிகாரம் 18. பின்பு தேவனாகிய கர்த்தர்: மனுஷன் தனிமையாயிருப்பது நல்லதல்ல, ஏற்ற துணையை அவனுக்கு உண்டாக்குவேன் என்றார்.
21. அப்பொழுது தேவனாகிய கர்த்தர் ஆதாமுக்கு அயர்ந்த நித்திரையை வரப்பண்ணினார், அவன் நித்திரையடைந்தான்; அவர் அவன் விலா எலும்புகளில் ஒன்றை எடுத்து, அந்த இடத்தைச் சதையினால் அடைத்தார்.
22. தேவனாகிய கர்த்தர் தாம் மனுஷனில் எடுத்த விலா எலும்பை மனுஷியாக உருவாக்கி, அவளை மனுஷனிடத்தில் கொண்டுவந்தார்.
23. அப்பொழுது ஆதாம்: இவள் என் எலும்பில் எலும்பும், என் மாம்சத்தில் மாம்சமுமாய் இருக்கிறாள்; இவள் மனுஷனில் எடுக்கப்பட்டபடியினால் மனுஷி என்னப்படுவாள் என்றான்.
24. இதினிமித்தம் புருஷன் தன் தகப்பனையும் தன் தாயையும் விட்டு, தன் மனைவியோடே இசைந்திருப்பான்; அவர்கள் ஒரே மாம்சமாயிருப்பார்கள்.
இந்த வேத வசனத்தில் படைப்பின் தொடக்கத்தில் முதல் குடும்பத்தை தேவனே உருவாக்கினார். என்பதை அறிந்து கொள்ளலாம். ஆணில் இருந்து பெண் ? ஆதியில் தேவன் புருஷன் தன் தகப்பனையும் தன் தாயையும் விட்டு, தன் மனைவியோடே இசைந்திருப்பான் என்பது படைப்பின் அடிப்படை கட்டளை.ஓரின சேர்க்கை பாவமாகிய ஆணுடன் ஆண் பெண்ணுடன் பெண் திருமணம் செய்வது என்பது
1) படைப்பின் அடிப்படை கட்டளையை மீறுவது
2) தேவனுடைய படைப்பை கேலிசெய்வது
3) தேவனுடைய படைப்புக்கு சவால் விடுவது
சாத்தானின் குணத்தை ஆண்டவரகிய இயேசு இப்படி சொன்னார் காணக (யோவான் 10: 10)
திருடனாகிய சாத்தான் கொல்லவும் அழிக்கவும் வருகிறானேயன்றி
வேறொன்றுக்கும் வரான். நானோ ஆடுகளாகிய உங்களுக்கு ஜீவன்
உண்டாயிருக்கவும், நீங்கள் பரிபூரணப்படவும் வந்தேன் என்றார் இயேசு
கிறிஸ்து. இந்த வேத வசனத்தில் இருந்து சாத்தான் எப்போதும் மனிதர்களை கொல்லவும் அழிபதுமே அவனது வேலை என்பது தெளிவாகிறது .
ஓரின சேர்க்கை பாவத்தை செய்பவர்களது சின்னமான வானவில்லை வைத்ததின் மூலம் சாத்தான் மிக தந்திரமாக தேவனை கொண்டே மனிதனை கொல்ல வைக்கவும் தேவனை ஒரு மகா கொடியவராக மனிதர்களுக்கு சித்தரிப்பதே அவனது நோக்கம் . காண்க

8 பிறகு தேவன் நோவாவிடமும் அவனது பிள்ளைகளிடமும், 9 “நான் உங்களோடும் உங்களுக்குப் பின்னுள்ள வாரிசுகளோடும், 10 உங்களோடு கப்பலிலே இருந்த பறவைகளோடும் மிருகங்களோடும் ஊர்வனவற்றோடும் பூமியில் உள்ள அனைத்து உயிர்களோடும் எனது உடன்படிக்கையை ஏற்படுத்திக்கொள்கிறேன். 11 வெள்ளப்பெருக்கால் பூமியில் உள்ள அனைத்து உயிர்களும் அழிக்கப்பட்டன. ஆனால் மீண்டும் இது போல் நடைபெறாது. இன்னொரு வெள்ளப் பெருக்கு பூமியில் உள்ள உயிர்களை அழிக்காது” என்றார்.
12 மேலும் தேவன், “உங்களுக்குக் கொடுத்த வாக்குறுதிக்கு அடையாளமாக ஒன்றை உங்களுக்குத் தருகிறேன். உன்னோடும் பூமியில் வாழும் ஒவ்வொரு உயிரோடும் நான் செய்துகொண்ட உடன்படிக்கைக்கு அது அத்தாட்சியாக இருக்கும். இந்த உடன்படிக்கை இனிவரும் எல்லாக் காலத்துக்கும் உரியதாக இருக்கும். இதுவே அந்த அத்தாட்சி. 13 மேகங்களுக்கு இடையே ஒரு வானவில்லை உருவாக்கி உள்ளேன். எனக்கும் பூமிக்குமான உடன்படிக்கைக்கு இதுவே அத்தாட்சி. 14 பூமிக்கு மேலாய் மேகங்களைக் கொண்டு வரும்போதெல்லாம் நீங்கள் அதில் வானவில்லைப் பார்க்கலாம். 15 வானவில்லைப் பார்க்கும்போதெல்லாம் நான் எனக்கும் உங்களுக்கும் மற்ற உயிர்களுக்கும் இடையில் ஏற்படுத்திக்கொண்ட உடன்படிக்கையை நினைத்துக்கொள்வேன். அந்த உடன்படிக்கை இனி ஒரு வெள்ளப் பெருக்கு உலகில் தோன்றி இங்குள்ள உயிர்களை அழிக்காது என்று கூறுகிறது. 16 மேகங்களுக்கிடையில் நான் வானவில்லைப் பார்க்கும்போதெல்லாம் எனக்கும் பூமியின் மீதுள்ள அனைத்து உயிர்களுக்குமிடையிலான நிரந்தரமான உடன்படிக்கையை நினைத்துக்கொள்வேன்.”
17 “நான் பூமியில் உள்ள அனைத்து உயிர்களோடும் செய்துகொண்ட உடன்படிக்கைக்கு அத்தாட்சியாக வானவில் விளங்குகிறது” என்றார்.
ஆகவே வானவில் என்பது இனி நீரினால் பூமியை அழிக்க மாட்டேன் என்று நோவாவிற்கு தேவனால் வழங்க பட்ட உடன்படிக்கையின் அத்தாட்சியாக இருக்கிறது தேவன் அறவே வெறுக்கும் ,தேவனுடைய படைப்பின் அடிப்படை கட்டளையை மீறும் பாவமாகிய ஓரின சேர்க்கை ஆணுடன் ஆண் பெண்ணுடன் பெண் திருமணம் செய்வது போன்ற அருவருப்பிற்கு இனி நீரினால் பூமியை அழிக்க மாட்டேன் என்று நோவாவிற்கு தேவனால் வழங்கபட்ட உடன்படிக்கையின் அத்தாட்சியாக இருக்கிற வானவில்லை சின்ன மாக வைத்ததன் மூலம் சாத்தான் தனது நோக்கமாகிய மனிதர்களை கொல்லவும், மனிதர்களை அழிக்கவும்,நோவாவுடன் தேவன் செய்த உடன்படிக்கையை தேவன் மீற வேண்டிய இக்கட்டு நிலைக்கு தந்திராமாக மனிதர்களை கொண்டே தேவனை சிக்க வைக்கும் மகா தந்திரம்
தற்போது இந்த பாவம் காட்டு தீ போல வேகமாக பரவி வருவதன் இரகசியம் என்ன ?
நாம் வாழும் இந்த நாட்கள் பூமியின் இறுதி காலம் ,கலியுகம் வேதாகமம் முன்னுரைப்பதன்படி அனைத்து அருவருப்பபுகளுக்கும் அழிவிற்கும் தலைவனாகிய சாத்தான் மனித அவதாரம் எடுத்து 7 ஆண்டுகள் பூமியை ஆளுகை செய்யும் காலம் மிக சமீபமாக உள்ளது .அவன் வெளிப்படும் முன்னர் இந்த பாவத்தை உலகம் முழுவதும் பரப்பி மனிதருக்கும் தேவனுக்கும் உள்ள உடன்படிக்கையை மனிதர்களை கொண்டே மீற வைத்து மனிதருக்கும் தேவனுக்கும் உறவை முதலில் உடைத்து பின்னர் தனது பரிபூரண கடுபாட்டிற்குள் மனிதர்களை உட்படுத்தி நான் மேலே உள்ள பந்தியில் சொன்னது போல தேவனை கொண்டே மனிதனை கொல்ல வைக்கவும் தேவனை ஒரு மகா கொடியவராக மனிதர்களுக்கு சித்தரிப்பதே அவனது நோக்கம்
காண்க வெளி16 அதிகாரம்.9. அப்பொழுது மனுஷர்கள் மிகுந்த உஷ்ணத்தினாலே தகிக்கப்பட்டு, இந்த வாதைகளைச் செய்ய அதிகாரமுள்ள தேவனுடைய நாமத்தைத் தூஷித்தார்களேயல்லாமல், அவரை மகிமைப்படுத்த மனந்திரும்பவில்லை
பின்னர் சாத்தானது நீண்ட நாள் ஆசையான தன்னை தேவனாக மனிதர்களை வணங்க வைப்பதே அவனது திட்டம்காண்க வெளி13 அதிகாரம்
12. அது முந்தின மிருகத்தின் அதிகாரம் முழுவதையும் அதின் முன்பாக நடப்பித்து, சாவுக்கேதுவான காயம் ஆறச்சொஸ்தமடைந்த முந்தின மிருகத்தைப் பூமியும் அதின் குடிகளும் வணங்கும்படி செய்தது.
13. அன்றியும், அது மனுஷருக்குமுன்பாக வானத்திலிருந்து பூமியின்மேல் அக்கினியை இறங்கப்பண்ணத்தக்கதாகப் பெரிய அற்புதங்களை நடப்பித்து,
14. மிருகத்தின்முன்பாக அந்த அற்புதங்களைச் செய்யும்படி தனக்குக் கொடுக்கப்பட்ட சத்துவத்தினாலே பூமியின் குடிகளை மோசம்போக்கி, பட்டயத்தினாலே காயப்பட்டுப் பிழைத்த மிருகத்திற்கு ஒரு சொரூபம் பண்ணவேண்டுமென்று பூமியின் குடிகளுக்குச் சொல்லிற்று.
15. மேலும் அம்மிருகத்தின் சொரூபம் பேசத்தக்கதாகவும், மிருகத்தின் சொரூபத்தை வணங்காத யாவரையும் கொலைசெய்யத்தக்கதாகவும், மிருகத்தின் சொரூபத்திற்கு ஆவியைக் கொடுக்கும்படி அதற்குச் சத்துவங்கொடுக்கப்பட்டது.
16. அது சிறியோர், பெரியோர், ஐசுவரியவான்கள், தரித்திரர், சுயாதீனர், அடிமைகள், இவர்கள் யாவரும் தங்கள் தங்கள் வலதுகைகளிலாவது நெற்றிகளிலாவது ஒரு முத்திரையைப் பெறும்படிக்கும்,
17. அந்த மிருகத்தின் முத்திரையையாவது அதின் நாமத்தையாவது அதின் நாமத்தின் இலக்கத்தையாவது தரித்துக்கொள்ளுகிறவன் தவிர வேறொருவனும் கொள்ளவும் விற்கவுங் கூடாதபடிக்கும் செய்தது.

4 அவன் எதிர்த்துநிற்கிறவனாயும், தேவன் என்னப்படுவதெதுவோ, ஆராதிக்கப்படுவதெதுவோ, அவையெல்லாவற்றிற்கும் மேலாகத் தன்னை உயர்த்துகிறவனாயும், தேவனுடைய ஆலயத்தில் தேவன்போல உட்கார்ந்து, தன்னைத்தான் தேவனென்று காண்பிக்கிறவனாயும் இருப்பான்.
எனவே நாம் இறுதிகாலத்தில் வாழ்கின்றோம் என உறுதியாக அறிந்து கொள்ளலாம்.

11 நித்திரையைவிட்டு எழுந்திருக்கத்தக்க வேளையாயிற்றென்று, நாம் காலத்தை அறிந்தவர்களாய், இப்படி நடக்கவேண்டும்; நாம் விசுவாசிகளானபோது இரட்சிப்பு சமீபமாயிருந்ததைப் பார்க்கிலும் இப்பொழுது அது நமக்கு அதிக சமீபமாயிருக்கிறது.
12 இரவு சென்றுபோயிற்று, பகல் சமீபமாயிற்று; ஆகையால் அந்தகாரத்தின் கிரியைகளை நாம் தள்ளிவிட்டு, ஒளியின் ஆயுதங்களைத் தரித்துக்கொள்ளக்கடவோம்.
13 களியாட்டும் வெறியும், வேசித்தனமும் காமவிகாரமும், வாக்குவாதமும் பொறாமையும் உள்ளவர்களாய் நடவாமல், பகலிலே நடக்கிறவர்கள்போலச் சீராய் நடக்கக்கடவோம்.
14 துர்இச்சைகளுக்கு இடமாக உடலைப் பேணாமலிருந்து, கர்த்தராகிய இயேசுகிறிஸ்துவைத் தரித்துக்கொள்ளுங்கள்.

6. பின்பு, வேறொரு தூதன் வானத்தின் மத்தியிலே பறக்கக்கண்டேன்; அவன் பூமியில் வாசம்பண்ணுகிற சகல ஜாதிகளுக்கும், கோத்திரத்தாருக்கும், பாஷைக்காரருக்கும், ஜனக்கூட்டத்தாருக்கும் அறிவிக்கத்தக்கதாக நித்திய சுவிசேஷத்தை உடையவனாயிருந்து,
7. மிகுந்த சத்தமிட்டு: தேவனுக்குப் பயந்து, அவரை மகிமைப்படுத்துங்கள்; அவர் நியாயத்தீர்ப்புக்கொடுக்கும் வேளை வந்தது; வானத்தையும் பூமியையும் சமுத்திரத்தையும் நீரூற்றுகளையும் உண்டாக்கினவரையே தொழுதுகொள்ளுங்களென்று கூறினான்.

Wigneswaran exposes US delay tactics at Geneva
The US Asst.Secretary of State Nisha Biswal was not in favour of pursuing the Geneva OISL investigation on Sri Lanka in the March sessions as scheduled, revealed NPC Chief Minister C.V. Wigneswaran in his speech in Tamil at the council on Tuesday, while introducing the resolution that demanded urgent international investigation on historically continuing genocide against Tamils. “In my recent conversation with Ms Biswal, I understood that the USA wants to be in favour of the present Sri Lanka government, as this government is favourable to the USA,” Wigneswaran said. “When Ms Biswal asked what could be the appropriate time for the release of the Geneva report and when I replied that it should be in March, she didn’t accept it,” the NPC-CM said.
Mr. Sampanthan, Mr. Sumanthiran, Mr. Suresh Premachandran and Mr. Selvam Adaikkalanathan were also in favour of releasing the Geneva report as scheduled. But the US expectation was on making the present government to win the elections by delaying the report and containing Sinhala sentiments, Wigneswaran said.
“My reply [to Ms Biswal] was: ‘You think the delay could help to get Sinhala votes, but you should not forget that by delaying you ignore Tamil votes,” Wigneswaran revealed, adding that he didn’t want to comment further on the interaction with Ms. Biswal.
Justice Wigneswaran was stressing on the importance of Tamils and Sinhalese understanding the endless cycles of deception deployed by successive governments in the island.
The polity followed in the island never allowed the Sinhala people to see that Tamils are also an aborigine people of the island who are the majority in their land and they have the same rights as the Sinhalese over matters such as language, culture, tradition and living space, Wigneswaran said.
Many may ask why the resolution at this time, embarrassing a government willingly created by us. But this is the time the truth should be told and the justice should come, Wigneswaran said, adding that the strategy should be approaching the Sinhala people with truth.
In continuing the deception, Wigneswaran was accusing SL Prime Minister Ranil Wikramasinghe more than SL President Maithiripala Sirisena.
If the Geneva process doesn’t tell the truth now and if the military is not removed from the Tamil land now, then the future sufferings of Tamils will be endless. This has to be understood by Sinhalese too in forging a new political culture. That’s why this resolution and this is not against the Sinhala people, Wigneswaran said.
The resolution passed unanimously in the council (including the EPDP, Muslim and Sinhala councillors) was calling for urgent international investigation on the historical and recent genocide against Tamils in the island; was urging the OISL investigation on Sri Lanka to take up the genocide claim and to pave way for International Criminal Court prosecutions, and was seeking international protection from genocide for Tamils in the North and East.

Key to struggle is changing outlook of powers: Gajendrakumar
Equal to the war crimes, there is an outlook crime of the powers involved in the island that was responsible for the genocide and is responsible for the on-going genocide of Eezham Tamils. Whether changing the outlook is possible through edification or through challenging the concerned powers? Whether changing the outlook is going to be the major issue in the future decades of the Tamil politics? When TamilNet-Palaka’ni interviewer Georg McKoy asked these questions to Tamil National People’s Front (TNPF) leader Gajendrakumar Ponnambalam last week, his reply was “Yes I think that is the key.” The outlook in question doesn’t come from lack of knowledge, Gajendrakumar said, naming US-dominated West, India and China as actors primarily involved. It is certainly not going to be through education, it is something that has to come through a struggle.
As long as we understand what is going and educate our people sufficiently I think we can challenge them in their own game, he further said, stressing on a struggle and leverage coming from the people concerned, he said.
What is going to matter is that, we have Interests [national], and those interests are permanent. We will not compromise upon them under any circumstances. And if we can have international actors who can recognize that, recognize the facts that we also have interests that won’t be compromised, then I think that the relationship which we can build with those very same actors will be on a much more meaningful and in deeper footing. We are committed to that position, Gajendrakumar said.
“There is an tendency amongst those who are detractors within the Tamil polity itself, who would try and make out that when we take up an particular position which is critical of, say regarding India or the west, in how they deal with Sri Lanka and the Eelam Tamils. Particularly when we criticise them regarding their dealing with Eelam Tamil issue, there is a tendency to try to point out that this is black and white, in the sense that if you are criticizing, then you are anti-this or anti-that. I don’t think this will last long, if we can show our people what the truth is, if we can educate them on what is actually happening, I don’t think that we are anti-this or anti-that will matter,” Gajendrakumar added.

When asked what is his party’s programme in preparing Eezham Tamils as a nation to rule themselves, by bringing in political structures and grassroot infrastructure, Gajendrakumar replied that “If we believe that we are a nation, then we must start behaving like a nation.”
Elucidating on the current limitations as well as the space for democratic political organisation and mass struggle, Gajendrakumar said, “The question is whether we can mobilise it to a point where we create sufficient leverage so that the Sri Lankan State also takes us seriously. I think that is the key. I believe that they will have to take us seriously, if we are prepared to actually take ourselves seriously with regards to the fact that we are a nation.”

Georg McKoy: It seems that equal to ‘war crimes’, there is also something of an ‘outlook crime’, which was responsible for the genocide and the on-going genocide. Is there any political programme in your party, edifying this outlook or, if not possible, confronting it, instead?
Gajendrakumar Ponnambalam: As far as our party is concerned, our view has always been that the international community as such – whichever aspect of it or grouping you want to look at – When it comes to Sri Lanka it is fully versed with regards to what the Tamil people face.
Since the departure of the British from Sri Lanka, there has been a systematic genocide that has been taking place. Whichever member of the international community you may belong to, it is not something that those particular actors don’t realize. They are not stupid. This matter has been going on for the last at least 65 years. All Tamil leaders, regardless of which party affiliation they come from, have at various crucial moments, not only told our own people, and described what is happening to the Tamil people as genocide. They have at crucial stages come out with very powerful written documentation, in the form of resolutions, party declarations, declarations in the sense that the entirety of the Tamil people endorsing – all very clearly stating that this is genocide.
That the Sri Lankan state has been pursuing the genocide is something that is well known. It is not a new phenomenon. Degrees have varied and its execution has varied in various ways.
When you have International actors, who are not ignorant but are fully versed with what is going on, continuing to support a State despite what is happening, as far as we are concerned, this is not due to ignorance. When there is no ignorance how much you can do by way of trying to convince them, is a question mark.
I don’t believe there is a question of lack of knowledge.
Then it becomes quite obvious, that there is a certain agenda that is running. Our Party’s position has always been that international actors that back the Sri Lankan State, back it blindly, because they need to pursue their own interests.
And if that happens, that means that when genocide is taking place, certainly when a structural genocide is taking place today, then those actors also, by the virtue of them doing it (supporting Sri Lanka) with the knowledge, are complicit.
Our view is that then there is no question of convincing them to do otherwise, it is the question of needing to look at them as being part of the issue. In that case we need to come up with a strategy to counter that, it is certainly not going to be through education, it is something that has to come through a struggle.
I am not sure whether I would use the term ‘confront’ but certainly challenge is something we should do. And that is the role of our party, we think.
McKoy: Do you think that change is possible through edification or through challenging the powers responsible for the current international outlook in order to change the way the Tamil national question is addressed?
Ponnambalam: If you look at what has happened in the recent past in Sri Lanka, our view has always been that there is a geopolitical struggle that is taking place with Sri Lanka at its centre. It is a struggle in which primary actors involved are the US-dominated West, India and China.
It is this grouping that is struggling to someway to get leverage over the Sri Lankan state. In such a scenario, in order to bring the Sri Lankan state into their particular spheres of influence in their own way of thinking, these various actors have used various forms of leverage on the Sri Lankan state. One of the primary leverage, and probably the most effective, is the Tamil issue.
So you would have, at various stages, various actors involved: for example in the 1980’s, it was a period during the cold war, it was a time when India was aligning with the Soviet Union. And when the United States was showing a lot of interests in Sri Lanka, there was a cold war based around Sri Lanka also, in which the primary actors were the USA and India. At that stage when it suited India’s purpose, the Tamil struggle was used as leverage; the Tamil liberation struggle was armed and strengthened in order to create leverage over the Sri Lankan state.
And when the Sri Lankan state came and fell in line, in the form of coming and signing the Indo-Lanka accord, through its annexures India was able to secure its interest. That very same actor, that is India, basically told the Tamil people, now it is time to pack up and go home. Forget your struggle, your issues now must be put to rest and there should be no room for struggle.
So, that scenario is there, when it suits them they have used us as leverage, when it suits them they keep quite. And they behave in the complete opposite. When it suited them they used the fact that Tamils are being oppressed and that genocide is going on, several Indian prime ministers, including Mrs. Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi have at various times used the word genocide in their own parliament to describe what is happening to the Tamils, way back in the 1980’s.
This is not out of ignorance. That is my main point. Those very same actors, when they signed the Indo-Lanka accord, turned around and said to Tamils that now everything is okay, now you just have to get on with your life. But we know, since then, that the process of genocide has continued against the Tamil people.
I think the only way we can move forward, is by realizing what is happening, and educate our people primarily, because our people is that leverage. They need our politics on the one hand and they need to contain the politics on the other hand, so it revolves around our politics. And as long as we understand what is going and educate our people sufficiently I think we can challenge them [the external powers/outlook crime] in their own game. And through challenging them we can create the leverage for ourselves. I believe that is the main thing we need to do.

McKoy: While, you claim Self-Determination for Eelam Tamils, what is your political programme in preparing them as a nation to rule themselves, especially for bringing in political structure and building infrastructures at grassroots levels as well as in the higher levels?
Ponnambalam: First and foremost, we believe that we are a nation in our own right, and as such by extension we believe that we are entitled to the right to self-determination. Those are inalienable rights. Those are not rights that could be compromised under any circumstances.
Regarding to what form that right is going to take, and in what form are we going to exercise those rights is up to our people.
Our issue is that we need to educate our people and create those conditions for them to exercise those rights.
Primarily, if we believe that we are a nation then we must start behaving like a nation.
If that is the case we need to start creating power structures in a manner where we can build a power centre for our nation.
In politics, as far as I am concerned there are only two forms of power. One is the power of arms and the other is the power of the people.
As a democratic party that works within a democratic space that is severely restricted in Sri Lanka because of certain legal constraints, for example, we have legal constraints saying that we can't talk about a separate state, we can't talk about this and we can't talk about that. There is Prevention of Terrorism Act, which is the most draconian law, which is still operative as normal law.
Under those circumstances there are certain limits to which we can work in a safe environment.
But, within those safe environments, where we don't throw our people into unnecessary jeopardy, we believe still we can achieve a lot in building these structures of our nation, purely democratic, no one can make allegations against us with regards to our motives. Those are rights no can deny. And if someone tries to deny that, then we will be in a position to expose the duplicity with these people who talk about democracy, rule of law, good governance – all these clichés, because these are merely clichés when they come to Tamil people.
We believe that we have to build those action plans that we can put into practice through which we can create a power centre. That power centre can only come through people’s power. People’s power can be mobilised through mass struggle. I also believe that people’s power can also be mobilised through creating a de-facto power centre.
For example, in our homeland, in areas that we recognise as our homeland, if we can create a situation of our own Assembly, where even though it is under the control of the Sri Lankan State structure, where you have various elections that take place for various institutions. When those people are elected, under albeit a Sri Lankan State structure, those elected representatives are people of our own choice. It is our people who are voting. Those people can de-facto start congregating and actually discuss amongst ourselves, through which we create an Assembly of our own. That is not illegal. Those spaces are there. The question is whether we can mobilise it to a point where we create sufficient leverage so that the Sri Lankan State also takes us seriously. I think that is the key. I believe that they will have to take us seriously, if we are prepared to actually take ourselves seriously with regards to the fact that we are a nation.

And if we can have international actors who can recognize that, recognize the facts that we also have interests that won’t be compromised, then I think that the relationship which we can build with those very same actors will be on a much more meaningful and in a deeper footing. We are committed to that position.
McKoy: While, you claim Self-Determination for Eelam Tamils, what is your political programme in preparing them as a nation to rule themselves, especially for bringing in political structure and building infrastructures at grassroots levels as well as in the higher levels?
Ponnambalam: First and foremost, we believe that we are a nation in our own right, and as such by extension we believe that we are entitled to the right to self-determination. Those are inalienable rights. Those are not rights that could be compromised under any circumstances.
Regarding to what form that right is going to take, and in what form are we going to exercise those rights is up to our people.
Our issue is that we need to educate our people and create those conditions for them to exercise those rights.
Primarily, if we believe that we are a nation then we must start behaving like a nation.
If that is the case we need to start creating power structures in a manner where we can build a power centre for our nation.
In politics, as far as I am concerned there are only two forms of power. One is the power of arms and the other is the power of the people.
As a democratic party that works within a democratic space that is severely restricted in Sri Lanka because of certain legal constraints, for example, we have legal constraints saying that we can't talk about a separate state, we can't talk about this and we can't talk about that. There is Prevention of Terrorism Act, which is the most draconian law, which is still operative as normal law.
Under those circumstances there are certain limits to which we can work in a safe environment.
But, within those safe environments, where we don't throw our people into unnecessary jeopardy, we believe still we can achieve a lot in building these structures of our nation, purely democratic, no one can make allegations against us with regards to our motives. Those are rights no can deny. And if someone tries to deny that, then we will be in a position to expose the duplicity with these people who talk about democracy, rule of law, good governance – all these clichés, because these are merely clichés when they come to Tamil people.
We believe that we have to build those action plans that we can put into practice through which we can create a power centre. That power centre can only come through people’s power. People’s power can be mobilised through mass struggle. I also believe that people’s power can also be mobilised through creating a de-facto power centre.
For example, in our homeland, in areas that we recognise as our homeland, if we can create a situation of our own Assembly, where even though it is under the control of the Sri Lankan State structure, where you have various elections that take place for various institutions. When those people are elected, under albeit a Sri Lankan State structure, those elected representatives are people of our own choice. It is our people who are voting. Those people can de-facto start congregating and actually discuss amongst ourselves, through which we create an Assembly of our own. That is not illegal. Those spaces are there. The question is whether we can mobilise it to a point where we create sufficient leverage so that the Sri Lankan State also takes us seriously. I think that is the key. I believe that they will have to take us seriously, if we are prepared to actually take ourselves seriously with regards to the fact that we are a nation.

Passing a resolution in the council that demanded international investigations on genocide, the Chief Minister has called for criminal prosecutions at the International Criminal Court (ICC) and urged the on-going OHCHR Investigation on Sri Lanka (OISL) to investigate the claim of genocide and recommend appropriate investigations and prosecutions by the ICC. “This Council urgently calls upon the international community to create conditions suitable and sustainable to protect the Tamils of the NorthEast Provinces in Sri Lanka from genocide,” the resolution said.

In a key development, the Chief Minister of Northern Provincial Council (NPC), Justice CV Wigneswaran, on Tuesday called for real international investigations on genocide against Tamils committed by the successive governments since Ceylon's independence from the British in 1948. Passing a resolution in the council that demanded international investigations on genocide, the Chief Minister has called for criminal prosecutions at the International Criminal Court (ICC) and urged the on-going OHCHR Investigation on Sri Lanka (OISL) to investigate the claim of genocide and recommend appropriate investigations and prosecutions by the ICC. “This Council urgently calls upon the international community to create conditions suitable and sustainable to protect the Tamils of the NorthEast Provinces in Sri Lanka from genocide,” the resolution said.
The case of genocide in Sri Lanka is unique among genocides in history because it occurred over several decades and under different governments before intensifying into a no-holds-barred war for nearly three decades and culminating in the mass atrocities of 2009, the resolution further said.
The concluding paragraphs of the resolution passed in the NPC follow:
The obligation to prevent and punish genocide under the Genocide Convention is not a matter of political choice or calculation, but one of binding customary international law. This Council urges OISL to comprehensively investigate and report on the charge of genocide in its submission to the UN Human Rights Council in March 2015. The UN Security Council should refer the situation in Sri Lanka to the International Criminal Court for prosecutions based on war crimes, crimes against humanity, and genocide. Alternatively or concurrently, domestic courts in countries that may exercise universal jurisdiction over the alleged events and perpetrators, including but not limited to the United States, should prosecute these crimes.To this day, Tamils in the NorthEast suffer from Sri Lanka’s ongoing genocide. In some areas of the NorthEast, there is 1 soldier for every 3 Tamils; this level of militarization is utterly unjustifiable, given that war ostensibly ended over 5 years ago. In Tamil-speaking areas, the Sri Lankan military has exponentially increased its role in Tamils’ daily life, expanded the amount of land it controls, and is establishing itself as a permanent, occupying presence. There has been no change in the oppressive level of militarization in the NorthEast with the election of Maithripala Sirisena.

It is accordingly vital that Sri Lanka’s historic violations against Tamils, in addition to the 2009 attacks, are addressed through an international mechanism in order to combat Sri Lanka’s institutionalized impunity. This international intervention, coupled with action to promote the respect of human rights, is necessary to ensure a sustainable future for self-determination, peace, and justice, in Sri Lanka and for the Tamil people. The extreme level of militarization uniquely affects Tamil women. There are approximately 90,000 female-headed households in the NorthEast after the end of the armed conflict. These women are especially vulnerable to sexual violence due to the military's predatory practices. This Council urgently calls upon the international community to create conditions suitable and sustainable to protect the Tamils of the NorthEast Provinces in Sri Lanka from genocide.
